De Vloek mural in Scheveningen harbour 2012

De Vloek mural in Scheveningen

Still (sadly haha) for me my biggest claim to fame has to be the De Vloek Mural in Scheveningen, which we created with the VanDeStraat collective back in 2012.

In the Scheveningen harbor, we created a stunning 60-meter-long, 7-meter-high street art mural on the hangar of “De Vloek” along the Hellingweg. This large-scale mural was a collaborative effort by 17 talented artists from across the Netherlands. Originally planned as a one-week project, a borrowed cherry picker that kept breaking down extended the work to two weeks. A huge shoutout to mechanic Paul for keeping us going and making this urban art masterpiece possible!

We painted the wall with a Scheveningen theme. I contributed by painting my character inside a lifebuoy, riding the iconic Hokusai wave.

The city discovered the mural after the first week, when we were supposed to finish. However, due to ongoing cherry picker issues, we had only completed half the work. As expected, they weren’t too happy about it at first. Nevertheless, we decided to push forward and complete the project anyway. Surprisingly, sometime later, Akbar Sim informed us that the city had unexpectedly showcased a photo of the finished mural on their official website.

Participating artists:
Sake, Uilskuiken, Ces53, Pinwin, Das Boat, Thor, Mick La Rock, Bust, Grrt, Ox-Alien, Amik, Oles, KBTR, PZE, 10:GU, NOL & Edo.
